Diva Challenge #114 - Stars

So stars is the theme for this week's  Diva Challenge #114 - Stars.  It's on a pale blue tile that is shimmery.

You can see the shimmer a bit more in the picture below.  The shimmer made me think of shimmery stars.

Diva Challenge #107 - Quandary

This week, the Diva challenge is to use the new official tangle "Quandary."  It can be found on the Zentangle website. This was a bit of a challenge for me. I just could not get the pattern to stay together without it becoming a jumbled mess of random spilled rice.  I tried using the triangle method as in Maria's instructions.

And I tried using the flower grid for the 1st one as in Ellen Wolter's video demo. Yeeeaaahhh, I didn't click with either method. After some practice, and many crumpled up peices of scrap paper I finally got it down.

I had already started a Valentine's Day tangle using TanglePattners String 039. A cute little heart. So, I decided to complete the unfinished tangle adding in some Quandry somewhere. After my initial difficulty with Quandry, I decided to not try anything fancy and just use it as a background.

Diva Challenge #106 "The Year of the Snake"

Happy Chinese New Year! It's the year of the snake, and we are challenged to make a tangle using this snake as inspiration.

Maybe I cheated a bit, but Monday morning my job sent an email out to the employees announcing a Chinese New Year Celebration somewhere on the campus.  It had a little snake in the email. I thought this little guy was so cute! When I got home, I saw the snake challenge on the Diva blog and new I had to incorporate him.

So I used the little guy and tangled in him and around him.  I finally used my red Sakura Micron pen.

This is the snake that I clipped from that email that my work sent out for the Chinese NEw Year Celebration. As tempting as it was to also draw the cool cherry blossoms, I didn't want to TOTALLY copy it, so I put the clipping out of sight after I drew the general outline of the snake.

Diva Challenge #105 - UMT: Dansk

The Diva Challenge this week (and check out the giveaway!) is to use the tangle pattern Dansk. It's kind of 60s looking to me. I decided to use the latest string and patterns that have been emailed to me from TanglePatterns.com.
So String 38 was used and the Fang, Neuron, and Y-Ful Power patterns. And I just love zingers, so I throw some of those in the mix also.

While I was at work the next day, I came across a fat metallic silver Scripto marker and a black tag in my desk, so I did a little more Dansk tangling. I guess I could string a ribbon through the hole and make it a book mark.

Diva Challenge #104 - String Theory, String #003

Diva Challenge asked for string #003 this week.

Nice and easy then. No thinking involved.  Perfect, since my schedule has been busy.  It was nice to get the pens and paper out again. I haven't had time to ink and doodle for a couple of weeks.

I did this weeks challenge in my patterns sketch book. I used some Zenplosion Folds, Mooka, Sanibel, and a couple that I can't remember the name.

Diva Challenge #102 - DuoTangle Auraknot/Bunzo

Challenge #102
Duo challenge - Auraknot and Bunzo.

These two just don't blend together easily for me.  When I got home, I put these in my sketch book instead of on actual Zentangle tiles. I was afraid to ruin some beautiful tiles!

I draw tile sized squares and play around in the sketch book.
